Who are we?

The Agence musicale étudiante of the Université de Montréal is a non-profit organization that allows you to hire excellent musicians to liven up your events. Whether it's for a corporate event, a celebration, a cocktail party, a gala or any other special events, the students of the Faculty of Music can create an unforgettable atmosphere. These young upcoming musicians offer a varied repertoire of classical, jazz and pop numbers.

For the students of the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Music, the Agence musicale étudiante (AME) is a great way to make their way into the musical profession. More than a simple job bulletin board, the AME serves as an intermediary between young musicians and potential clients. The agency encourages students to apply free of charge, then actively seeks contracts for them by conducting promotional activities. To date, the AME has distributed close to $125,000 in fees, which has helped dozens of young musicians to finance their education.

The history of the AME

The musical agency project at the Faculty of Music was launched in 2007 by the team of the Association des étudiants en musique de l'Université de Montréal (AÉMUM), under the presidency of Marie-Ève Racine-Legendre. Right from the start, Jacques Boucher, the dean of the Faculty of Music at that time, and Michel Duchesneau, Associate Professor, have encouraged this initiative. Students also showed lots of enthusiasm for the future AME. During a general assembly, they agreed to participate in its financing with a modest fee. In the fall of 2007, Marie-Ève Racine-Legendre gathered a group of students interested in getting involved in the project outside the AÉMUM. A non-profit corporation was registered in October with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec. The general assembly to create the AME was held on December 6, 2007.

As its name "AME" (soul in French) suggests, the fundamental value of the Agence musicale étudiante is its commitment to the university and music community. The AME's mission is to contribute to the recognition and enhancement of the status of Quebec's future musicians by supporting helping members of the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Music get a head start on their careers. Its objectives are as follows:

  • Promote the artistic expression of students and recent graduates of the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Music.
  • Helping young musicians start their career on the right track by informing them in regards to their rights and by negotiating hiring conditions that respect the regulations of the Guilde des musiciens du Québec for them.
  • Contributing to the influence of the Faculty of Music by sending a double message: The high quality of the musicians trained there and their professional attitude.
  • Finally, providing students with an introduction to talent management by joining the team of administrators.

A project that goes a long way

For the time being, the AME team is composed of Nora Toutain, manager and Marc-André Harnois, General manager. Their role is to manage contracts, recruit students/musicians, promote and expand the organization.

The AME is proud of its association with the Université de Montréal and is growing in harmony with its environment. More and more students of the Faculty of Music are getting contracts thanks to the Agency. Prestigious clients from around Montreal are already calling on the AME's excellent services.

We look forward to doing business with you!
